Tony Hancock: Rest In Peace

16th June 2012

Jez Turner

To those who are not already aware, it is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected death of Tony Hancock.

He passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Monday 11th June, due to complications from a stroke which he had been making a hitherto good recovery from. He characteristically did not want a fuss made about his stroke and tried to keep it quiet. Nevertheless he had a steady stream of concerned visitors to his hospital bedside, which touched him greatly.

He was a friend to all seekers of Truth and a fearless printer and publisher of suppressed works both old and new. In this dark, timid age – an age unsurpassed in censorship and one which is fulfilling the direst warnings of Orwell’s ‘1984’ and Bradbury’s ‘Fahrenheit 451’ - he enabled old rare, expensive or long-out-of-print books to be again accessible and enabled new ones to see the light of day.

Such books opened minds where they were closed and broadened minds where they were narrow.

He will be sorely missed by those who are endeavouring to free our people from this vicious, alien tyranny and to put the destiny of our people back, once again, where it belongs, into the hands of our people.

Our thoughts are with his family.

While the light lasts we shall remember, and in the darkness we shall not forget.

An obituary of Tony Hancock can be found here.
