Civil Liberty is certain most readers will be well aware of the facts of this case.

In precis Mark is a teacher who has been victimised for his political beliefs. His employer, Durham County Council, has looked for every excuse to justify his suspension from work. They and their agents have conducted an extraordinary 'investigation'.

Presently Mark, 36, a former RAF weapons technician, a popular Design and Technology Teacher, a husband and father remains suspended, in limbo, awaiting events. Obviously he would like to return to work and carry out the profession he loves, namely teaching. His Union (Solidarity) has referred the matter to a solicitor to try and find a solution and to offer advice and guidance to Mark on the increasingly complicated legal issues this case has raised. Given the range and ever shifting number of allegations made by the employer against Mark this is absolutely necessary.

As some of you will be well aware solicitors don't come cheap! That is why the Mark Walker Appeal is so important in that it will help pay the solicitor's bills. Presently the fund has raised nearly £1,400. If you have not already done so please send us a contribution.

Please send cheques and postal orders made out to 'Civil Liberty' to: Mark Walker Legal Fund, Civil Liberty, P.O Box 1132, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE99 4YT, England, Great Britain, or you can donate online via this website.
